Tyler is proud to have recently published our third annual corporate responsibility report. The report is a compilation of Tyler’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities and aims to update stakeholders – including investors – on Tyler’s sustainability impact, diversity and inclusion efforts, environmental footprint, and more.
Tyler’s ESG Council oversees the creation of this report with input from subject matter experts across the company and oversight from executives, senior leaders, and the Nominating and Governance Committee of our board of directors. The report was developed with recognized sustainability frameworks in mind, including the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Standards and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) reporting standards. It also incorporates material referenced by the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment.
Tyler had a number of notable achievements in 2021, including:
- Recognition by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America as a top sustainability performer in the industry, ranking in the 93rd percentile
- Signing of renewable energy plans for four of seven Tyler-owned office facilities
- Carbon footprint reduction of 22,000 metric tons and elimination of 15,000 airline flights due to Tyler's remote implementation model
- An employee retention rate of 82%
- Engagement with 2,000+ community and diverse outreach organizations to increase diversity in recruiting
- $367,600+ in charitable donations and 2,400+ self-reported volunteer hours by team members
- Establishment of a chief privacy officer role, reporting directly to the chief legal officer
Tyler CFO Brian Miller reflects on the one-year anniversary of the NIC acquisition.
As we recently marked the one-year anniversary of our acquisition of NIC, we look back on the achievements together over the past 12 months while looking forward to the opportunities ahead as a combined company.
- We’ve been extremely impressed by the expertise, focus, and professionalism exhibited by our new NIC team members following such a significant change event for their company. There has been great support of the new leadership team, with Elizabeth Proudfit as NIC Division president and Liz Thomas as NIC Division chief operating officer. Their leadership has helped seamlessly blend NIC values and culture with Tyler’s.
- From a financial perspective, we have achieved or exceeded our performance targets for NIC. It was a priority for us to avoid disrupting NIC’s already successful business model while we systematically build synergies between Tyler and NIC.
- We’re pleased with the progress we’ve made in bringing the companies’ sales and marketing organizations together. Our payments teams have also been combined and are moving forward with a unified go-to-market strategy. Our pipeline of joint opportunities doubled last quarter and continues to grow. We’ve been encouraged by our early successes with leveraging NIC’s deep relationships to sell multiple Tyler products into NIC’s client base. Among those successes are a contract for our VendEngine solution with the state of Arkansas and a contract with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies for our State Regulatory and Data & Insights platforms.
- As we go forward, we’re seeing a significant amount of market interest in Tyler’s data and analytics capabilities, as well as interest in payments capabilities designed specifically for government. In the coming year, we expect to achieve an even deeper level of collaboration between the NIC and Tyler teams and will unlock expanded integrations between our solutions.
