We are looking forward to a long and rewarding partnership with Blue Earth, and envision more opportunities in the state of Minnesota."
Blue Earth County is located in southern Minnesota, 75 miles south of Minneapolis-St. Paul, and is rich in Native American culture and United States settler history. Blue Earth County is currently home to more than 58,000 residents, and the city of Mankato is the county seat. The name Blue Earth is a translation of the Dakota Native American word "Mahkato," meaning "greenish blue earth"— from the unusual color of the area's copper-rich clay. Historically the area was central to trading, and the arrival of the railroad in 1868 further increased the county's importance in trade and accessibility. Industry (especially milling), business, agriculture and education continue to play important economic roles in the county.
