Dallas, July 26, 2007 -- Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced today that it has reached an agreement with the Orange County, Florida, Comptroller to provide Tyler's Eagle recording software. The contract, valued at approximately $1 million, includes Tyler's Eagle Recorder, Eagle OCR, Eagle Quickdocs, and Eagle Web applications, as well as all related software licenses, support and professional services.
The pact, which represents the first installation of Tyler's Eagle software in the state of Florida, follows an extensive evaluation process by the Orange County Comptroller—one that included in-house product demonstrations, thorough interviews with Tyler references and reference site visits. The Orange County Clerk of Courts earlier this year contracted with Tyler Technologies for Odyssey courts software and has used Tyler's MUNIS financial management solution since 2005.
Steve Nieman, president of Tyler's Eagle Land & Vital Records Solutions, regards the agreement as a breakthrough for Eagle software in the Florida market. "Our new contract with the Orange County Comptroller demonstrates Tyler's solid reputation throughout Florida and opens the door to future agreements for Eagle software with agencies in the state. Orange County has an established relationship with Tyler through its purchase of our Odyssey and MUNIS solutions. This latest agreement builds upon that partnership and reflects Tyler's commitment to enabling government agencies to improve service to their citizenry," he stated.
Tyler's Eagle software applications will replace the Orange County Comptroller's existing recording system, which the County has outgrown since it was installed several years ago. The Comptroller expects the Eagle software to improve both the efficiency and cost effectiveness of operations in its Official Records Office.
Tyler's Eagle software is written in Java™ and features an n-tier architecture, producing a solution that is scalable, secure and manageable—all of which were important considerations for Orange County. At present, over 120 clerk and recording offices in 17 states employ Tyler's Eagle recording and imaging solutions. Through Eagle Web, the County will provide its citizens with unlimited access to data and images via the Internet.
According to Martha Haynie, Orange County Comptroller, the decision to purchase Tyler's Eagle solution was based on several factors. The County selected Tyler's Eagle system because it is highly stable, compatible with its Oracle 10g database, and offers the overall functionality required to improve recording efficiency and effectiveness. In particular, the County cited the ability to perform auto-indexing, auto-redaction and electronic recording. For electronic recording, Tyler has committed to being in line with the latest Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) standards.
During a careful evaluation process, the Orange County Comptroller interviewed Tyler clients currently using Eagle products. These references affirmed Eagle's functionality and attention to customer service. Tyler's Eagle solution includes employee productivity and accuracy reporting, as well as audit trails for each document.
Orange County, Florida, is home to more than one million residents, making it the fifth most populous county in the state and the 35th largest in the United States. The county was created in 1824 and hosts several world-renowned amusement parks and resorts. Orlando is the county seat.
