TYLER TECHNOLOGIES EXPANDS PRESENCE IN SOUTH CAROLINA WITH CONTRACT AWARD FROM BEAUFORT COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Dallas, Texas, September 9, 2002 —Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced today that the Beaufort County School District has signed a contract to replace its financial information system software with a full suite of Tyler's MUNIS financial and payroll applications. With this contract to provide software, professional services and hardware, Tyler continues to expand its geographic presence in the southeastern United States and with larger accounts.
Located in the southeastern corner of the state, the Beaufort County School District is the fifth largest district in South Carolina. One of the fasted growing school districts in the state, it is comprised of three regional clusters (Battery Creek, Beaufort and Hilton Head) each with its own elementary, middle and high schools. The District employs 2,400 people, oversees 24 schools and educates more than 17,500 students. Under the contract with Tyler, the District will implement MUNIS Financials, Payroll, and Revenue system software. Financial applications include General Ledger, Budgeting, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Bids and Quotes, Purchase Orders, and Project Accounting. Payroll applications include Payroll, Personnel Management and Applicant Tracking. They will also implement MUNIS Office, which provides integration to Microsoft Office and Crystal Reports.
The Beaufort County School District chose Tyler's software to replace its existing software because of its desire to implement a technologically advanced system. “We were looking for a system that had functionality and a technological direction consistent with our needs,” commented Phyllis White, Executive Director of Finance. “In addition to functionality, we were looking for a graphical system that could provide state required reporting, work flow, and Web access.” Ms. White previously worked with MUNIS at another Tyler customer, Beaufort County, South Carolina, where she served as Deputy Controller before joining the school district. She understands first-hand the exceptional capabilities of the system the District is purchasing and is looking forward to its installation.
“We are pleased to welcome the Beaufort County School District to our client base,” said John Marr, Jr., President of Tyler's MUNIS division. “Based on our strong performance in the Charleston County Schools and Richland County Schools, we believe that our new relationship with the Beaufort County Schools will reinforce the message that MUNIS is the software of choice for school districts in South Carolina.”
