City Of Wilmington, Delaware Selects Software From Tyler Technologies To Provide A Better Way Of Doing Business |
MUNIS Software Will Help City Improve Internal and External Processes
Dallas, March 21, 2005 -- Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) announced today that it has been selected by the City of Wilmington, Delaware to provide integrated financial and citizen-based software to meet the city's growing needs. The total estimated value of the contract, including software, professional services and support, is more than $1.3 million.
Under the contract, Tyler will provide its MUNIS software for financial management and human resources applications in Wilmington. The City will also implement MUNIS revenue software to manage the accounts receivable and related processes for utilities, permits, taxes and other applications.
In 2002, the City of Wilmington formed a committee comprised of stakeholders, representing Finance, Personnel and Budgeting, to review potential software options to replace its outdated system. While the existing system provided a basic means of maintaining financial information, it lacked the ability to connect this information. After evaluating a number of software providers, the decision to select Tyler's MUNIS software was a simple one.
"We wanted to move to a more efficient and comprehensive system that would allow us to tie information together," said Tyrone Smith, director of information technology at the City of Wilmington. "Many vendors had some of the modules we needed, but Tyler was the only single company that could handle all of our needs. In addition, the MUNIS interface was easier to use, navigate and understand."
The new system will enable the city to simplify internal processes and to integrate information that was previously separated by department within the city. For example, in order for a citizen to obtain a building permit, he or she must be current on all other fees, such as parking tickets, utility bills and city taxes. The MUNIS system will allow the City of Wilmington to reference fees and other information across agencies on a citywide basis, enhancing its ability to provide consistent and accurate services to citizens and other customers.
"We were looking for a better way of doing business," added Mr. Smith. "One advantage of the new MUNIS system is that we can look at a customer and associate them with a wide variety of information. Customers and citizens will be pleased with the improved level of service that the new system will help their city government to provide. We look forward to a high level of service from Tyler that will allow us to maintain state-of-the-art technology in our financial and revenue systems."
"Tyler's MUNIS software is a great fit for the City of Wilmington," said Richard Peterson, Jr., President of Tyler's MUNIS division. "With a growing population approaching 80,000, the City needed a reliable system to enhance its business process, and a service provider that truly understands the business of local government. That's exactly what Tyler is here to do."
